One of my really good friends is thinking about trading his car and getting a truck from Carmax. For reference, this is what he currently drives.
To be fair, he and his wife recently bought a house and he wants the truck to do truck things. His wife bought a Jeep Wrangler and that’s not a super practical vehicle. For example, we took the M3 to get a grill; it barely fit. While it might seem excessive to get a truck, good luck convincing someone to change their mind.
That moment when an M3 is the most practical car.
The front runner to replace is the Challenger is a Chevy Colorado, which you could get in a wonderful shade of green. Being a good friend I decided I should see if I could find a decent green one at Carmax.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Shortly after that realization, my mind started to wonder what kind of manual green cars they had for sale.
I then created a search with only two filters, green and manual. I was scrolling through the results when I came across !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
I found this to be strange as Carmax almost never incorrectly lists manual cars, but assumed that they made a mistake this time. I was curious so I clicked on the listing. To my astonishment I noticed something:
It indeed is a manual. Did anyone else know you could get an HR-V with a stick? I had absolutely no idea until I clicked on this listing.

Why would you sell your boat at Carmax?

I did. It’s 2WD only IIRC.

most likely Base FWD only can get a manual,
my mother still owns her Manual 2003 awd CRV that she bought new.

Was wondering how long before someone made a joke related to the Challenger being a boat.
Just looked it up, it weights MORE than my E90.

That’s about right.

Still surprised that they offered a manual.

I seent a brand new Accord sport w/ manual the other day. It made me feel practical dad things for a sec. I shook it off.

how else do you get a low advertised price to get people in the door.
I hate evey manufacturer since manuals only come in base models.
Like when i bought my SX4 in 2010, I couldn’t get the heated seats, and auto climate with the better stereo, since that was a higher trim in automatic only....
So i got a base awd sx4 with dealer installed oem foglights and Ipod input.

I saw a new Accord with a stick at my Apartment complex last week. I was amazed for a minute.

Yea! A quick sec were you live in a world where a car is just a car, you think “ man, that is a nice looking car.” Then back to reality.

You sure could, but I think the manual’s dead for next year? Where did I read that? May be a fake memory. Incredibly cheap-feeling car, nonetheless.

Its also a foot and a half longer.

The DB11 doesn’t even come with a manual :’(

Yes, I knew. But it is base, FWD only. It has nothing to offer over a Fit.

Illustrative example to prove a point

It’s essential a Fit with a Slightly bigger but still tiny and single cam engine so why not?
It was aaaaalmost fun to drive with an auto so I’d bet that if you need that type of car it would be a good choice.

Because how many crossover drivers want manuals?
![]() 07/10/2018 at 14:13 |

I was surprised they offered one to begin with, just given the low numbers of manuals sold today.

My xdrive 328i weights about 3500. The M3 is obviously stiffer and has a mucho biggero engine. So is it heavier than an AWD base model?

2015 Dodge SXT, that’s the V6 one without AWD: 3834 lbs
2011 E90 M3: 3704 lbs

They are also getting rid of the manual next year.
Also if it doesnt have to be a manual, for $ 20K he could get a decent u sed 2011 Silverado
https://www.carmax.com/car/15691728
Or for $25K he could get a 2015 Ram 4x4 Crew cab
https://www.carmax.com/car/15827746
I know the appeal of a mid size truck and they tend to hold their value longer but the prices of a Taco or Colorado dont justify it.
When you can get a full size with more room in the bed, bigger interior (as the Colorado and Taco get tight in crew cab form), h igher towing capacity, and more payload.

Very true.

When my parents bought their CR-V, a manual HR-V EX in that same shade of green was in the showroom. It was interesting, but I wasn’t super surprised, either.

is it still awd or just fwd o lay with the stick
![]() 07/10/2018 at 15:40 |

Just FWD.

Depending on his budget, he could probably get a new Ram 1500. We got ours in the very low $20k range...
![]() 07/10/2018 at 18:14 |

I think he wants a smaller truck.

Then get a Tacoma, the Colorado is only slightly smaller than the Silverado. It’s fuckhuge and absolutely pointless.
